The 2012 Mazda RX-8 was awarded four stars out of five stars for protecting the driver in case of a head on collision and all five stars in the same case for the passenger seated in the front. In case of a side on crash, the vehicle received four stars. The cockpit of the vehicle is round in shaped with gauges and center console also round. It has easy to read gauges, but the music system and climate control buttons are not easy to read. The reverse opening doors at the back make entry and exit for passengers easy, but the passengers should not be taller then 6 feet.
